2020 Television Humanitarian Awards Announced

THE CREATIVE COALITION PRESENTS THE SIXTH ANNUAL TELEVISION HUMANITARIAN AWARDS HONORING UZO ADUBA, RICKY GERVAIS, SIENNA MILLER, YVONNE ORJI, AMY POEHLER, BILLY PORTER, PHYLICIA RASHAD, MIRA SORVINO, AND NBC’S “NEW AMSTERDAM”

Emmy-nominated stars come together in first ever virtual dinner and awards show to support the arts, streaming exclusively on Variety’s Facebook and YouTube channels

September 14, 2020 (NEW YORK, NY)– The Creative Coalition will present the sixth annual Television Humanitarian Awards, honoring actors Uzo Aduba, Ricky Gervais, Sienna Miller, Yvonne Orji, Amy Poehler, Billy Porter, Phylicia Rashad, Mira Sorvino, and the cast and producers of “New Amsterdam.” Variety’s Marc Malkin will emcee the event streaming exclusively on Variety’s Facebook and YouTube channels at 6:30PM PDT on September 17, 2020.

Now in its sixth year, this highly anticipated Emmy week event honors prominent figures in the television industry as well as 2020 Emmy Award nominees who use the power of their celebrity for social good. The event is produced by actor and producer Erich Bergen.

“The Creative Coalition has a long history of honoring the most significant leaders in the entertainment industry for their charity and advocacy work,” said The Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk. “In the lead-up to this year’s Emmy Awards, we are so thrilled to recognize some of TV’s biggest stars who use their platform to make a positive difference.”

For the first time, this year’s event will be a virtual interactive experience including dinner deliveries, VIP breakout rooms, and awards ceremony. During the event, The Creative Coalition will also premiere its newest “Spotlight Initiative” PSA focusing on the untold story of obesity.

Additional special guests include Alan Cumming, Jason Dirden, Jason Isaacs, Natasha Lyonne, Audra McDonald, Issa Rae, Melora Walters, and the Muppets™, as well as actor and The Creative Coalition President Tim Daly, The Creative Coalition Chairman of the Board Michael Frankfurt, and The Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk.

All proceeds from the special charity event benefit The Creative Coalition’s year-round work to protect and advance the arts. The Creative Coalition’s Television Humanitarian Awards are graciously supported by Novo Nordisk Inc.
