Woodstock Film Festival Premiere and Luncheon Event

THE CREATIVE COALITION HOSTS WORLD PREMIERE OF FOUR SHORT FILMS AT THE WOODSTOCK FILM FESTIVAL, 10/2

WHAT: The Creative Coalition will premiere the winning films of its short films competition at the Woodstock Film Festival on October 2. The winning films, which shine light on the untold story of obesity, include:

[fat] life
Written and Directed by Emmy and Tony Award-winner David Gallo (“Sesame Street,” The Drowsy Chaperone, August Wilson’s Jitney)
A silent musical that celebrates the legacy of physical comedy greats such as Buster Keaton, Jackie Chan, and Carol Burnett with a magnificent score, a diverse cast, and original choreography to craft a love letter to a time when jokes were told without words and playful sound effects, brilliant music, and the audience’s laughter provided the only needed sound.

The Untitled Weight and Comedy Project
Directed by Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Kessler (Paul Williams Still AliveVegas Vacation)
A raw and intimate look into the lives of comedians who find themselves at the butt of a very specific kind of humor – fat jokes. The film scrutinizes our constantly-reinforced social understanding that fat equals funny, and instead invites viewers to explore the real weight of being overweight.

St. Nick
Written and Directed by Greg DePaul (Bride WarsSaving Silverman)
It’s Christmas Eve, and Frank, a single father who struggles with obesity, is working overtime. When wealthy, clueless Nick jumps in Frank’s Uber and says something Frank can’t ignore, it’s time for a detour. St. Nick is an homage to the faceless heroes who provided the simple necessities to keep the world functioning during the heart of a devastating pandemic.

You Just Big Boned
Written and Produced by Emmy Award-nominated actor Kelly Jenrette (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “All American: Homecoming”)
Black women have the highest rates of obesity with 4 out of 5 being impacted. In a community that prides itself on being “thick,” a young Black girl wants to free herself from her family’s “big boned” label. Shelly is from the Deep South where fatback, oxtails, and all things greasy are a way of life.

The Creative Coalition will also present “When Real Life Impacts Reel Life,” a moderated panel discussion with the filmmakers and luncheon.

WHO: Emmy Award-nominated Actor and President of The Creative Coalition Tim Daly (“Madam Secretary”) joins The Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk to moderate the panel with Greg DePaul (Bride WarsSaving Silverman); Emmy and Tony Award-winner David Gallo (“Sesame Street,” The Drowsy Chaperone, August Wilson’s Jitney); Emmy-nominated actor Kelly Jenrette (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “All American: Homecoming”); and Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Kessler (Paul Williams Still Alive, Vegas Vacation).
