The Backstory:
Earlier this year, The Creative Coalition met with key legislators from both the House and the Senate. We passionately endorsed federal arts funding, urging Members of Congress to support a robust $211 million for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
Current Situation:
Prepare for the worst. The U.S. House of Representatives is proposing drastic cuts to the NEA. They want to slash funding by over $20 million from current levels, leaving artists and arts organizations struggling to survive.
The U.S. Senate, however, has approved legislation to fund the NEA at $211 million, aligning with our efforts during the April #RightToBearArts Day on Capitol Hill.
Actions:
We will not back down! The Creative Coalition has unleashed a fierce response to the House’s proposal. We issued a statement, denouncing these cuts and asking that the House follow the Senate’s lead by supporting the $211 million funding level.
But we can’t do this alone. We need your voice, your passion, and your determination to defend our #RightToBearArts.
