Providence, RI (April 13, 2017)—Tonight, the Ivy Film Festival is proud to present a conversation with Barry Levinson, the Academy Award-winning director and Emmy Award-winning writer; moderated by Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition, the premier nonprofit, nonpartisan, advocacy organization of the entertainment industry. This keynote will highlight Levinson’s personal insights on turning a passion for film into a career, navigating the fast-changing industry, and his vision for the future of the craft.

The Creative Coalition (www.thecreativecoalition.org) is the premier nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of the arts and entertainment community. Founded in 1989 by prominent members of the entertainment industry, The Creative Coalition is dedicated to educating its members on issues of public importance. The Creative Coalition also spearheads the prestigious Spotlight Initiative program to support independent film and the public service campaign #RightToBearArts. Begun by The Creative Coalition, The Right To Bear Arts™ campaign raises public awareness about and encourages civic activism in favor of maintaining federal funding for the creative arts. Actor Tim Daly serves as the organization’s President. Members of The Creative Coalition include actors, writers, producers, directors, and other leaders in the arts community and entertainment industry. 

Barry Levinson began his entertainment career as an Emmy Award-winning comedy writer for Carol Burnett and Mel Brooks in the 1970s. After working on the TV movie Peeping Times, he made his big-screen directorial debut with Diner (1982). A series of acclaimed projects followed, including The Natural (1984) and Good Morning, Vietnam (1987). His 1988 film Rain Man earned him an Academy Award for best director. He’s continued to work with big-name stars like Warren Beatty and Robin Williams on later films such as Bugsy (1991), Sleepers (1996), Man of the Year (2006) and Rock the Kasbah (2015). 

Robin Bronk is the Chief Executive Officer of The Creative Coalition. She is a best-selling author, has a column in the Huffington Post and has won numerous awards and honors for her public affairs work.
