The Creative Coalition Takes on 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions

Kerry Washington, Tim Daly and Sue Kramer to Chair TCC Efforts

Los Angeles, CA (August 14, 2007) – Today, The Creative Coalition announces its Chairs for their activities at the 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions.  Actors Tim Daly and Kerry Washington, and writer/director Sue Kramer will helm the organization’s year-long activities to harness the power and platform of Hollywood behind issues topping the national agenda in this election year.

Mr. Daly, Ms. Washington and Ms. Kramer will lead The Creative Coalition’s Convention teams and continue a long and bi-partisan tradition by The Creative Coalition of bringing issues of importance to the forefront of the Convention platforms.

“In the United States, artists and entertainers have a unique opportunity and voice to spotlight issues that are, or should be important to both sides of the political spectrum.  We will, therefore, continue The Creative Coalition history of working diligently with both sides of the political aisle to ensure messages resonate with Democrats and Republicans,” said Robin Bronk, Executive Director of The Creative Coalition. “Throughout the next year, we will be having events, programs and mobilization activities to ensure that our voices and issues are heard.”

Mr. Daly said, “Advocacy is at the heart of the mission for The Creative Coalition, and we have a great opportunity every four years to bring people together from the arts and entertainment community with those who influence national policy.   We are able to be an important link between Hollywood and Washington.”

“As a citizen of this democratic nation, I feel an obligation to be involved in our political process. I am excited and grateful to be part of The Creative Coalition’s efforts, during this coming election, to highlight the role that the arts and entertainment play in maintaining our national identity, contributing to a healthier economy and improving the lives of all citizens – especially our young people.” said Ms. Washington.  Ms. Kramer added, “For entertainment leaders, advocacy and involvement in the Conventions ensures that our constituency uses the unique platform of the arts and entertainment industry to advocate and educate for causes that serve the common good.”

The convention chairs will be officially introduced at an event this evening at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
