The Creative Coalition Supports President’s Proposed Arts Budget

The Creative Coalition today expressed support for President Obama’s proposal to preserve funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.  The budget blueprint released today by the White House would maintain federal funding for the arts at the existing level of $146 million for fiscal year 2015.

“We hope Democrats and Republicans will come together this year to maintain a reasonable level of support for the National Endowment for the Arts,” said Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition.  “Recent government data show that the arts and cultural industries account for 3.2%, or $504 billion, of our nation’s gross domestic product.  Given the vital role that the arts play in our economy and our culture, it only makes sense to keep investing in the arts.  The NEA provides needed support to non-profit arts institutions that boost our economy, create good jobs, enliven our communities and enrich our American culture.”

The Creative Coalition (www.thecreativecoalition.org) is the leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment community.  Founded in 1989 by prominent members of the creative community, The Creative Coalition is dedicated to educating and activating its members on issues of public importance.  Actor Tim Daly serves as the organization’s President.
