The Creative Coalition Raises Awareness For Arts Funding

NEW YORK, NY (March 18, 2009) – The Creative Coalition continues its photo shoot that is the centerpiece of a grassroots campaign spotlighting the efficacy and need for arts to be publicly funded.  High profile figures including Anne Hathaway, Tony Bennett, John Turturro, Ellen Burstyn, Amber Tamblyn, Judith Light, Richard Belzer, and Matthew Settle will be photographed by Pulitzer prize-winning photographer Brian Smith.

This photo shoot continues a shoot begun by The Creative Coalition in Los Angeles last month with participants including The Creative Coalition Co-President Tim Daly, Taraji P. Henson, Dana Delany, Kerry Washington, Alfre Woodard, Zooey Deschanel, Jamie Kennedy, Alyssa Milano, Fisher Stevens and David Hyde Pierce, among others.

In addition to the PSA campaign, photographs, inspirational messages and personal anecdotes — highlighting how the arts play an instrumental role in the lives of America’s citizens — will be included in a book presented to Congress, the White House, and influencers specifically for the purpose of encouraging government support for funding arts education and the National Endowment of the Arts.

Partners in the PSA campaign and book project include Hachette Filipacchi Media, American PHOTO, Sony, Digital Days, Splashlight, Blurb, and Warren Tricomi.
