Washington, D.C., (April 19, 2007): The Creative Coalition member actor Kerry Washington will testify before a House Subcommittee today to push for increased federal funding of the arts. Washington will talk about her own childhood, growing up in the Bronx, and how the arts opened doors for her success. A delegation of The Creative Coalition is also meeting with members of Congress and White House officials to focus on federal funding of arts programs.
“The Creative Coalition is thrilled to bring this delegation to the Capitol Hill,” says Robin Bronk, Executive Director of The Creative Coalition. “We hope that through our meetings and Kerry Washington’s testimony we can raise awareness about the importance of federal funding of arts programs. Hollywood is deeply committed to this issue and our voice will be heard today.”
