Highlights from Hollywood at Home featuring Susan Heyward:
Why Sister Sage resonates with “The Boys’” audience: “When you have a character who’s as powerful as [Homelander] – there’s just no checks and balances on that kind of power – [Sister Sage] gives Homelander someone to answer to, someone to aspire to.”
Working with Martin Scorsese on “Vinyl”: “That was like being in filmmaking summer camp…immersed in a whole world, and sometimes the cameras are far away so they’re not in your face…I just remember getting lost in this world that we were creating, and then after cut, you’d hear a voice come from over the loudspeaker: Mr. Scorsese giving some notes to someone. The attention to detail was unlike anything…down to the knit of the sweaters.”
On simultaneously shooting a hit tv program and an epic Broadway show: “We shot [“Orange Is The New Black”] in New York. I was running back and forth between performing in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway at the same time. There were some days I would literally get four hours of sleep, wake up really early, go to the set for “Orange is the New Black,” shoot, pretend to be in a prison, and then get into a van and drive directly to the theater in Times Square and warm up and be ready for the play. It was fun to pretend to be in a really deep, dark place and find humanity, the humanity of all the people who populate that place, and then run to the theater and pretend to be a wizard.”
