BOOK LAUNCH CELEBRATION FOR NYT BESTSELLING AUTHOR ANNABELLE GURWITCH

WHAT: The Creative Coalition’s Book Club has selected You’re Leaving When? Adventures in Downward Mobility as its latest book chosen as part of the organization’s initiative to bring attention to outstanding authors and written works. The virtual party celebrating the paperback release from New York Times bestselling author Annabelle Gurwitch, with a special appearance by actor Lisa Edelstein (“The Kominsky Method,” “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”) will include exclusive access to three curated lounges with leaders from corporate America, NGOs, policy, entertainment, and the media.

WHO: The Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk; The Creative Coalition President, actor Tim Daly (“Madam Secretary”); actor Lisa Edelstein (“The Kominsky Method,” “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”); and New York Times bestselling author Annabelle Gurwitch. Invited attendees include Hollywood talent and select leaders, executives, influencers, and tastemakers from the arenas of entertainment, media, Fortune 500, and policy.

MORE: Annabelle Gurwitch is a New York Times bestselling author of five books, most recently “You’re Leaving When? Adventures in Downward Mobility,” a New York Times’ Favorite Book for Healthy Living 2021, and a Good Morning America Must Read. She was the longtime host of Dinner & a Movie on TBS, a regular NPR contributor, and has written for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and WSJ amongst other publications. Before she turned to writing her acting career included two seasons of HBO’s award winning series Not Necessarily the News and hosting three seasons of WA$TED on Planet Green. Roles in Seinfeld, Medium, Dexter, Better Things, Murphy Brown, and theatrical productions including Donald Margulies’ Coney Island Christmas at The Geffen, Wendy MacLeod’s Women in Jeopardy at The New Vic, and the 20th anniversary production of Uncommon Women by Wendy Wasserstein at Second Stage. She was recognized in both The New York Times and Los Angeles Times “Top Ten Performances of the Year in Theater” for her work in Murray Mednicks’ Joe and Betty.

In 2020, The Los Angeles Press Club recognized her with an excellence in journalism award for her Los Angeles Times essay about opening her home to a housing insecure couple- this was particularly gratifying for Annabelle because she once starred in a movie where she shares a hot tub with Rodney Dangerfield. She and comedian Laura House host the Tiny Victories podcast on the Maximum Fun Podcast Network which Vulture calls a “bright spot of light and laughter.” 

In 2020, Annabelle walked into an urgent care for a routine covid test and walked out with a diagnosis of stage iv lung cancer. She now serves as a national spokesperson for the Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
