Last month, the President released his budget calling for the elimination of federal funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.
The President’s proposed budget will strip NEA funding for approximately 30,000 concerts, reading and performances, and more than 3,000 exhibitions of visual and media arts that were attended by more than 20 million individuals last year. A significant percentage of these NEA grants went to those in high-poverty neighborhoods and underserved populations such as people with disabilities and veterans. Without the NEA, millions of Americans will lose their access to the arts.
