Heading to Capitol Hill: The Creative Coalition Joins AARP to Urge Support for Family Caregivers
Washington, DC (Wednesday, June 26, 2024): Today, a Creative Coalition delegation, in partnership with AARP, is set to visit Capitol Hill to urge elected representatives to support the nation’s 48 million family caregivers. AARP and The Creative Coalition will urge Congress to prioritize what matters most to older Americans, including greater support for family caregivers, ongoing need to lower prescription drug costs, improving retirement security, advocating for nursing homes to live up to their name, and protecting Social Security. In addition, the delegation will highlight the critical role caregivers play in our healthcare system, providing essential, unpaid care valued at over $600 billion each year. The Creative Coalition, harnessing the unique spotlight of the arts, is joining with AARP to garner federal support for these vital members of society.
The delegation will be spearheaded by Emmy-nominated actor Yvette Nicole Brown (“Black Lady Sketch Show”), Chair of The Creative Coalition’s Entertainment Industry Commission on Family Caregiving, and CEO Robin Bronk. The delegation also includes esteemed actors Caroline Aaron (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Rose Abdoo (“Hacks”), Mädchen Amick (“Riverdale”), Diedrich Bader (“Lucky Hank”), David Alan Basche (“The Exes”), Fernando Carsa (“Acapulco”), Marg Helgenberger (“CSI: Vegas”), Marin Hinkle (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Katherine McNamara (“Shadowhunters”), Cara Jade Myers (Killers of the Flower Moon), Dean Norris (“Breaking Bad”), CCH Pounder (“NCIS: New Orleans”), Yolonda Ross (“The Chi”), and Susan Kelechi Watson (“This Is Us”).
