The Creative Coalition’s Call to Action
To Support the Senate’s NEA Funding
The Creative Coalition is calling all arts advocates to action! Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved level funding for Fiscal Year 2026 of $207 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. We must urge members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to support this funding level instead of the $135 million proposed by the House Appropriations Committee. The two chambers will work over the coming months on a final funding level for Fiscal Year 2026 for the National Endowment for the Arts.
The House Appropriations Committee’s proposed 35 percent cut to the $207 million of current funding would be devastating to the U.S. arts economy. On the other hand, the Senate Appropriations Committee’s proposed funding level would adequately promote the social, cultural, educational, and economic benefits that arts organizations provide especially in small, rural, and underserved communities. We must choose to fund the arts again because we are interested in American prosperity.
Today’s Senate Appropriations Committee approval of the bill text is a positive step towards final funding levels. If you support access to the arts for all Americans and the important work carried out by the National Endowment for the Arts in bringing the arts to communities in all parts of our country, the Creative Coalition urges you to take the following actions:
- Contact your elected officials and call on them to support the Senate’s proposed levels of funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. You can call your Representative and Senators at 202-224-3121 to voice opposition to cuts in NEA grant funding.
- Share a powerful new public service announcement released by The Creative Coalition starring Iain Armitage (“Young Sheldon”) that spotlights the enormous contributions of community arts programs across the country.
- Continue to share your personal stories on social media platforms and with elected officials about the impact the arts have made in your life and in your community.
