Statement from The Creative Coalition
On the Cancellation of NEA Grants
The move to cancel National Endowment for the Arts grants is shortsighted. It hurts the communities where the funds would have been invested. It denies access to the arts to thousands of Americans, including students in rural communities, veterans who heal from arts therapy and seniors who enjoy local arts festivals.
We have seen over and over that a thriving arts scene brings together people from all walks of life, promotes critical thinking and emotional expression, and helps to build a more tolerant society. By investing in the arts, we pave the way for future generations to flourish creatively, culturally, and economically.
Canceling investments in the arts undermines communities’ potential for growth, innovation, and cohesion. It stifles the voices that need to be heard and diminishes the richness of our shared experiences.
CALLING FOR ACTION:
The Creative Coalition calls on the Administration to restore these grants and urges all supporters of the arts to call your Representative and Senators at 202-224-3121 to voice opposition to NEA grants being canceled and urge policymakers to protect the National Endowment for the Arts from future cuts.
