The Creative Coalition to Host Special Screening Tuesday evening, October 9th at the Village East Theatre in New York City.
New York, NY (October 3, 2012): The Creative Coalition announced today that Martin Papazian’s returning veteran drama, LEAST AMONG SAINTS, starring Charles S. Dutton, Laura San Giacomo, Papazian, and Tristan Lake Leabu has been selected for inclusion in the organization’s prestigious Spotlight Initiative slate for 2012.
The Spotlight Initiative is an integrated partnership that champions the art and craft of independent filmmaking by providing cause-related marketing strategies and issue campaign resources that allow the film’s message to reach beyond the movie screen. By bringing in influentials from the business, entertainment, arts and policy arenas to support Spotlight Initiative films, The Creative Coalition is able to promote socially relevant, independent filmmaking.
Laura San Giacomo said, “It is wonderful that LEAST AMONG SAINTS has been selected to be a part of The Creative Coalition’s Spotlight Initiative. It is the story of one man’s journey to connection and love; and I hope that – through the Spotlight Initiative – it will give voice and light to veterans’ issues and the support returning soldiers need.”
Charles S. Dutton said, “LEAST AMONG SAINTS is illustrative as to why The Creative Coalition’s Spotlight Initiative exists. This film is a stark reminder of what the government needs to be doing for returning veterans. And a dismal example of what it hasn’t done.”
LEAST AMONG SAINTS movingly depicts a man’s hard-fought journey towards reconciling with his better self. Returning home to a broken marriage and an uncertain future, veteran Anthony Hayward (Papazian) believes there is no hope for himself. Yet when a troubled ten year-old neighbor, Wade (Tristan Lake Leabu), calls out for help, Anthony cannot turn away. To the dismay of the boy’s social worker (Laura San Giacomo), Anthony sets out on a fool’s quest to help this heartbroken and hard-to-reach child find his long-lost father. In the midst of this new mission – the first that seems to matter since his return – Anthony begins to come to grips with both the costs of war and the universal power of human connection.
“LEAST AMONG SAINTS centers on a combat veteran’s path to redemption through his compassion and service to an abandoned child,” said Papazian. “It was always our intention as filmmakers to deliver a message to veterans and to the world of hope and personal freedom through acts of compassion towards others, as our central character exemplifies in our film. It is a great honor to have The Creative Coalition support our film.”
LEAST AMONG SAINTS will be released theatrically by Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment in partnership with Brainstorm Media in New York, Los Angeles and additional cities on October 12th.
