Highlights from Hollywood at Home featuring Rose Abdoo:

On the edge with Stephen Colbert and “Second City”: “We’re in Orlando; Stephen Colbert [came] out, and he divided the audience into three groups, and lifted his arms for the first one and indicated that they should hum; the second group, hum; the third group…until the whole audience would do it, just because he said to do it. And the tagline was, ‘Now you know how Hitler took power.’ ‘This [would be] controversial, now. It made a point, but this group of people, of course, was incredibly offended. It got a huge laugh.”

On her appearance in the early days of “Curb”: “My episode, I was an interior decorator. I think it’s season one, episode five. And Larry David just let me know, ‘Hey, Diane Keaton is a client. I want her phone number. You have her phone number. You don’t wanna give it to me. That’s all you need to know.’”

Josefina in “Hacks” is modeled after her mother’s ‘arch enemy’: “It’s the best pilot script I’ve ever read…but I wanted to change [the character’s] name…I said, listen, I’m basing this person, in part, like my mother, but [also on] my mother’s arch enemy, Josefina. My mother beaded wedding gowns. She beaded gowns for Barbara Bush, Marge Monahan, Aretha Franklin…and she beaded a gown for Josefina…My mother thought she was gonna be invited to a wedding, and the woman didn’t invite my mother AND didn’t wanna pay her for her work. So something about this character just reminded me of Josefina as she gets away with saying a lot of really abrupt things.”

Opulence and “Hacks”: “We film that entire gorgeous Deborah Vance mansion in the sound stages at Universal. It’s beautiful…the refrigerator is stocked with the most glorious high-end figs and jams and cheeses. The Deborah Vance grocery list would cost the price of a small car.”

7.5 hours of chicken on The Guilt Trip with Jonah Hill: “In The Guilt Trip, we had to eat roast chicken and pasta salad for seven-and-a-half hours. At the end, [the actor] Miriam Margolis – said, ‘I shall never eat roast chicken again. Never.’ We were so grossed out. To this day, I don’t eat chicken anymore because of that shoot.”
