THE CREATIVE COALITION’S NEW PSA SHIFTS THE OBESITY NARRATIVE AS A NATIONAL EPIDEMIC WORSENS

December 16, 2021 (LOS ANGELES, CA) – The Creative Coalition today premieres a new PSA campaign that shifts the narrative on the nation’s obesity epidemic – with four out of 10 Americans suffering from the medical condition. The new spots feature TV doctors and nurses, including BokHee An (ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”); Nicholas Gonzalez (ABC’s “The Good Doctor”); Boris Kodjoe (ABC’s “Station 19”); S. Epatha Merkerson (NBC’s “Chicago Med”); and Steven Weber (NBC’s “Chicago Med”) – and are available for broadcast and digital download, and in-kind distribution for all media in 30- and 60-second formats.

“I heard you have epilepsy. Have you considered shedding a few pounds,” asks one actor. “You have psoriasis? Maybe you should get on the treadmill,” suggests another. “You would never say these things to a friend suffering from a medical condition,” the PSA goes on to say. “Obesity is a medical condition, a disease. Obesity is treatable.” The PSA concludes by directing viewers to The Creative Coalition’s website, where they can learn more about obesity and find additional resources.
The new PSA was written by Jacqueline Donabedian (Director of Medical Research, “Grey’s Anatomy”), Kiley Donovan (Executive Producer, “Station 19”), and Jamie Denbo (Writer/Co-Executive Producer, “Grey’s Anatomy”), and directed by Academy Award-nominated Director Stephen Kessler (Paul Williams Still Alive, Vegas Vacation).
