Celebrating Women’s Strides in Government and Policy

Washington, DC (May 5, 2009) –  The Creative Coalition and actor Tim Daly (Co-President of The Creative Coalition) will co-host a Capitol Hill reception on Tuesday evening, May 5 with Girls Inc. to commemorate the significant strides made by women in today’s Congress and White House Administration.

The event will feature clips from the acclaimed documentary, 14 Women. The film, narrated by Annette Bening, profiles the 14 female Senators of the 109th Congress. 14 Women is part of the Spotlight Initiative, a joint project of The Creative Coalition and the film’s distributor Screen Media Films. The Spotlight Initiative promotes films with messages that serve the common good.

“The Creative Coalition is proud to partner with Girls Inc. It is because of organizations like Girls Inc. that we will never be at a loss to find the ’15th Woman.’ Girls Inc. creates opportunities for our generation to inspire our youth to move up and forward,” said Robin Bronk, Executive Director of The Creative Coalition.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this event with The Creative Coalition, who understands the importance of sharing the challenges and triumphs of today’s women trail blazers to inspire tomorrow’s leaders,” said Girls Inc. President and CEO Joyce M. Roché.

The event is being held by a grant from the ING Foundation, in conjunction with Girls Inc. Girls’ Rights Week® which recognizes girls making considerable strides in the world, and celebrates both men and women who are creating a better future for young people.
