The Creative Coalition Partners With The Library Of Congress To Celebrate Our Nations Creative Patrimony

New York, NY (March 2, 2010): The Creative Coalition, in conjunction with The Library of Congress, will host A Night of Treasures -- a Tribute to America's Film, Broadcast, and Recorded Sound Heritages. This spectacular evening will take place at The Library of Congress' historic Thomas Jefferson Building in our nation's capital, on a date to be announced.

The evening's program will be produced by multi Emmy® Award-winning producer Tom Fontana ("Oz," "Homicide:  Life on Street," "St. Elsewhere"). Twelve renowned artists from the arenas of music, film, television, and broadcast, will be selected to participate.

"The Library of Congress represents the closest thing there is to a mint record of American creativity," said Librarian of Congress James H. Billington.  "While it is important to celebrate our nation's arts and culture, the efforts of the Library and like-minded organizations such as The Creative Coalition transcend celebration, preserving our national patrimony for current and future generations."

"It is truly an honor for The Creative Coalition to take part in this historic event with The Library of Congress," said Executive Director of The Creative Coalition, Robin Bronk. "It is our goal to bring together today's greatest artistic voices and storytellers with history's most profound artistic content to illuminate the preservation of America's treasured collections from film, recorded sound, and broadcast history."

The gala event will include a special ceremony wherein performers will donate a piece of their personal collection of performing history to the nation, which will be added to the permanent collection of the Library of Congress. The evening also will include the presentation of the prestigious Creative Coalition Spotlight Award to Dr. James H. Billington, the 13th Librarian of Congress, in recognition of his efforts to preserve our nation's arts history.
