The
Creative Coalition to Bring Entertainment Industry
Leaders to Presidential Nominating Conventions in Denver
and Minneapolis
Teams with Target to host
performances by some of the biggest names in music
WASHINGTON, DC (June 18, 2008) – The
Creative Coalition announced today that it will host a
series of events at both Presidential Nominating
Conventions, including exclusive performances by some of
the biggest headlining artists in music. Scheduled for
the third night of each Convention, the benefit
performances, presented by Target, promise to be the
most sought after gala events of either week.
The Creative Coalition continues its tradition of
supporting the election process by recognizing the hard
work and dedication of both parties and will bring a
delegation of entertainment industry leaders to both the
Democratic National Convention and the Republican
National Convention.
The Creative Coalition delegations – led by Co-Chairs
Tim Daly, Kerry Washington, Tom Fontana
and Sue Kramer – will include
Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee, Susan Sarandon, Maggie
Gyllenhaal, Neil Patrick Harris, Dana Delany, Barry
Levinson, Matthew Modine, Alan Cumming, Cheryl Hines,
Rachael Leigh Cook and Wendie Malick.
In addition to hosting the Wednesday night benefit
gala at each convention, The Creative Coalition will
host a series of special events and programs during each
Convention week, as well as issue-oriented
luncheons, receptions and dinners.
“We are pleased to continue The Creative Coalition’s
tradition of bringing the spotlight of the entertainment
industry to shine on issues that are at the forefront of
the national agenda. Our organization is dedicated to
being the entertainment community’s leading nonpartisan
public advocacy group,” said Robin Bronk, Executive
Director of The Creative Coalition.
Additionally, Nate Garvis, Target Vice President of
Government Affairs, remarked, “Target is proud to
support The Creative Coalition gala events at both
conventions. As a nonpartisan, nonprofit agency
supporting arts and education, the Coalition’s goals
align with many of Target’s efforts to strengthen
communities.”
