The inaugural Seconding The FirstÔ event is held at The Town Hall in New York City. It is an evening dedicated to celebrating the First Amendment through a multi-media and stage presentation. Forty participants read, perform and introduce the audience to materials that have been banned, censored or contested in America over the past 100 years. MSNBC tapes the show and airs a condensed version several times. Participants include: Alec Baldwin, William Baldwin, Carl Bernstein, Walter Bernstein, Roy Blount, Jr., Judy Blume, Charles Busch, Phoebe Cates, Peggy Charren, Walter Cronkite, Chuck D, Phil Donahue, Jules Feiffer, Harvey Fierstein, Martin Garbus, Ron Howard, Elizabeth Hubbard, Kevin Kline, Joseph Kosuth, John Leguizamo, Lonette McKee, Bebe Neuwirth, Paul Newman, Sarah Jesica Parker, Gloria Pipkin, Natalie Portman, Lou Reed, Christopher Reeve, Joan Rivers, David Ross, Andres Serrano, Phoebe Snow, Marlo Thomas and Robin Williams.
